Job Description

Leeds City Council is recruiting a Bereavement Services Officer to work across our cemeteries and crematoria. This is a local authority role with excellent public sector benefits.

Key duties:

  • Managing burial and cremation bookings
  • Liaising with funeral directors and bereaved families
  • Maintaining accurate burial and cremation records
  • Administering the purchase and transfer of grave rights
  • Supporting families visiting graves and memorial areas
  • Ensuring compliance with burial and cremation legislation
  • Responding to public enquiries

Requirements:

  • Experience in customer service or administration
  • Knowledge of bereavement services legislation (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
  • Empathetic and sensitive approach
  • Full UK driving licence
